Tomcat and penlog

Is anyone aware of a way to configure Tomcat to do "reliable piped logs"
with penlog, similar to what can be done with Apache as shown in the
penlog manpage?

I'm trying to merge the penlogs with the Tomcat access logs, in order to
run merged logs though a traffic analysis program. Not having much luck
here.
