Questions regarding Pen and max usage

Hey - I'm working on a load balancing project with pen and was curious as
to the theoretical limits of pen. It appears after a certain period of
extremely high throughput - pen starts dropping requests or truncating
responses until the load drops.

To be fair - I'm not expecting to ever hit this limit, I would just like
to know this so we can prepare based on application needs and throughput.
