But you can read in the manual that pen supports vrrp (virtual router
redundancy protocol). So it should work without 3rd party tools. The
question is just: Where (except in the code itself) is it documented and
how do you do it?

Thanks for your answer anyway, heartbeat surely is a possible way to go,
bigbrother would work also I guess, but that's not how it's supposed to
be if pen is supporting vrrp.
