Identical pen installations on two Solaris hosts. svcadm enable
on one and svcadm disable on the other. Any downtime will be due
to hardware failure and equal to the time it takes to type
"svcadm enable pen" on the other host.

That's how I solved it on the last installation.

I'm not aware of any better solutions. Sun Cluster and similar of
course, but that's ridiculous for this application and frankly
unlikely to provide better availability (I'm unimpressed by most
such products).

Or run pen on both hosts and use two A records in dns for the
domain. All semi-modern web browsers will automatically fail over
if one address doesn't respond.
